Job Description
TED is looking for a Podcast Producer to play a key role in creating original podcasts for TED. The Podcast Producer has an excellent track record in audio storytelling and will be working on projects for TED podcasts and creative subscriber-only content. This person has demonstrated measurable success in crafting podcasts from beginning to end, works well with teams and creatives, loves problem solving, and has a strong ear for what works well in audio.
While broadly known for its global conferences and signature TED Talk videos, TED is one of the top podcast publishers in the world, garnering over 420 million downloads annually. Our programs are listened to in over 190 countries and our shows have been consistently ranked by Apple Podcasts as "most downloaded" of the year. In a world with over 700,000 podcasts (and growing), we've maintained this position over the years and have successfully launched new original shows that have found traction with both audiences and partners. TED’s award-winning portfolio of leading audio series include the TED Radio Hour (with NPR), TED Talks Daily, The TED Interview, WorkLife with Adam Grant, Fixable, ReThinking, The TED AI Show and many more.
The Podcast Producer’s primary responsibility will be creative review and strategic redesign of TED Talks Daily. TED Talks Daily is TED’s largest podcast, with more than 3.2 million unique monthly listeners. The Podcast Producer will work closely with the TED Talks Daily team to develop creative new programming that deepens listeners’ engagement with TED’s content and community.
Qualifications
- At least three to five years of experience in producing audio for radio or podcasts
A background in journalism and/or audio storytelling
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
An ability to craft strong narratives, source guests, and conduct compelling interviews
Experience in gathering tape and assembling stories with editing software (ProTools, Adobe Audition, or similar DAWs)
Deep knowledge and interest in media and culture and understanding of what works in audio
An eye for detail and self-direction, and a proven track record as a team player
Strong organizational and project management skills
